I recently took part in the development and performance of the project: Carl Nielsen Black | White at Nørregaards Teater, Odense DK.
The task was to create a real live-music-video, based on fragments of Odense citylife and Carl Nielsens music.

I did an intense study of Odense with my camera, and made myself the agenda to find “hidden spots” and “secrets” within the city.
I created a laboratorium in the theatre for my experiments. Equipped the room with 4 projectors, 3 Macbook pro and a downsized model of Carsten Wittrock¨s set design: 3 walls 4×5 meters and a floor around 35 squaremeters.
My secret weapon was Resolume Arena 5 and Isadora. Two incredible powerful pieces of video- & project mapping software.
Like always, in these projection-processes, I ran into problems – reflected on what I wanted and my actual skills. But these challenges are important to improve your competence and moving forward.
I thought I knew everything about mapping. Now I know, that wasn’t so:)

After one week in my lab, my two coworkers arrived. Composer & musician Nana Schwartzlose and actress & singer Anne Karina Nikolajsen. We actually never worked together before, so it was exciting if we clicked and managed to develop the show.
For me was it also the first time not creating both music and visuals. Music is my main occupation – and it was challenging to hand this over it to another. At the same time it gave me, a sort of, artistic freedom.
Having said that, it was great to work with two so highly qualified women and artists. We did a hell of a job, transforming our ideas into a performance. Nana did a fantastic transformation of some of Carl Nielsen’s songs. Live on stage with double bass, loop-pedals, saw and synthesizers. Anna Karina turned inside out on the lyrics with breathtaking vocals and excellent, visually striking performance.
